INTRODUCTION - JANUARY
Happy New Year! I am sure you’ve spent holidays in an interesting and festive way on your radio stations and I am positive that you didn’t have much rest.
January is the month when we all work hard – we are trying to collect all the belated payments, create new campaigns, quizzes and to improve our programs. Seems to me that January is pretty much the same on all the radio stations around the world – we talk with our friends often, and we always realize that we have the same problems, but also the same timing and commitments. The same nice radio activities and preparations.
I had a great start of this year – my big desire for us all and for RAB Serbia became true. We had a meeting of all the presidents of all radio associations in the Association of Creative Industry in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. As you probably remember, during our Radio Days in Palic we gave the initiative to gather all the associations of radio stations to fight together for our most important goals and solve problems. Of course SOKOJ’s (Serbia Music Authors Organization) new fees presented as the first issue and I am happy I can tell you that after several meetings, on our last meeting on Friday, January 18th, with the representatives of SOKOJ we have made many arrangements which show us that everything will be much better and different. We expect that the Protocol will be signed soon, and I will inform you about everything. The best thing is that representatives of all associations of radio stations in Serbia acted together with the same goal and the same desire – which is something we have always wished for – all the stations united in the fight for the rights of radio stations. In the future we will talk about other problems of radio, taking part in creating new laws etc. But this unison brings new hope and a lot of optimism.
Soon RAB Serbia will continue with the radio listening research. On the last Board meeting on Thursday, January 17th, we have looked at all the offers and we have chosen the best one. I will inform you about all the details soon.
We plan to meet in Nis soon – the second part of February and to talk about Problems of local and regional radio stations. Soon we will contact members of RRA and RATEL, as well as guests who will be able to give us answers to the numerous questions I’m sure we will have.
I’m looking forward to our next meeting. They are always very useful, but they are also meetings of true friends in which we all enjoy.
