INTRODUCTION - MARCH

Seems to me spring is coming. I am sure it will bring a lot of good things to us. Maybe because of the spring and the nice symbolism we are beginning this year with the action called SPARROW (VRABAC).

In our annual Assembly held on February 24th we were unanimous in the decision that the award for the best radio jingles and ads awarded by RAB Serbia should be named V(RAB)AC. I hope you already have your candidates ready because soon you will receive an invitation to enter the contest and then we shall all celebrate on the award ceremony. So, V(RAB)AC. I wish you all a lot of luck and that you bring the award to your radio and be proud of it.

It was nice to be the chairman of the Assembly. We all thought the same and wished for the same things. We have accepted the plan for this year and improved it with interesting, creative ideas.

We planed Radio Days on Zlatibor which will be held from April 22nd till April 24th. We are preparing trainings for radio hosts and editors, which was something everyone present desired.

You can imagine how happy I was when I have presented the latest estimates from IPSOS Strategic Marketing which we had received that day. I have proudly announced that we have already accomplished the goal set on December 15th 2010 in “Zira” – that we will reach 9.6 million Euro income for radio in 2012. 9 million in 2011 shows us that.

Incomes got higher, but it’s sure that there is a lot of work ahead of us to bring the radio to the place it belongs amongst other media. We shall fight for that! The numbers show that our fight is successful and that gives us additional strength.

RAB Serbia is entering its second year and this year is certainly going to be even more important than the previous. So – full speed ahead in all self promotional campaigns because everything is going good for us.

It was very interesting to meet Alida Zorz Miketek, director of Media Mix from Zagreb. She was our guest lecturer on the Assembly. Her lecture and the experience with the networks in Croatia was very precious to all of us. I am sure that there was no station thinking about “network – yes or no”.

Our guests from Zagreb (Alida Zorz Miketek, Ivan Juric Kacunic from Antena Zagreb, Daria Loos, assistant) showed us examples of how it is done by the biggest networks in Croatia – Narodni radio, Antena Zagreb and Totalni FM network. The overall conclusion was – the future of radio lies in networks, both for big and small radio stations. We shall do our best to bring other experiences about this to our next meetings and to make right decisions for our radio stations.

I wish you all a wonderful early spring… And the successful realization of all of our plans. Even though I’ve said this many times before, I would like to say it again – only together we can accomplish our biggest goals.
