INTRODUCTION - NOVEMBER

Our Autumn Radio Days are over. These were the forth Radio Days organized by RAB Serbia. This time they were held in Palic, hotels Elitte Palic, November 10th till 12th.

Unison and friendship of radio stations could be felt in Palic could be felt during this time. We had great pleasure to welcome Gordana Predic, State Secretary for Culture. She had opened Radio Days on November 10th, at 4 pm with following words: “Two years ago I found out about RAB Serbia from Maja Rakovic and I have followed its work since then because I was thrilled with the principles it is based on. Like the letter R in RAB Serbia logo, could be in only one color, it is made out of numerous dots of various colors because that is exactly the representation of radio in Serbia – a lot of radio stations united in the same task.”

Over 100 participants from radio stations members of RAB Serbia, our guests from Croatia (Ivan Butkovic, president of HURIN, Marijan Beljan, vice president of HURIN), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Adnan Osmanagic, the owner of RSG Sarajevo, Adis Kadric, executive director of RSG Sarajevo, Emir Povlakic, Agency for communication of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Samir Mujagic, production director of RSG Sarajevo), Macedonia (Gjorgi Savev, owner of City Radio from Skoplje), Slovenia (Lenja Papp, ROB Slovenia, Robert Brndusic Dedus, MultiBrand Media International), shared their experiences with us and gave us useful ideas which had helped them improve the position of radio in their countries.

Again, we had prominent experts in their fields with the most interesting topics – Tomislav Jakobovic (Brand Media Consulting, Croatia), Rade Santrac, our best sound designer and the owner of the gold medal for the best radio jingle in the world, and Ivan Zeljkovic, radio and tv host. Our guests from Ninamedia talked about radio listening radio research and the use of the data base on RAB Serbia web site.

We had two groups – while the lecturers presented their themes: Sound design and radio imaging in the function of radio format (Rade Santrac), First steps in creating successful radio brand (Tomislav Jakobovic), Preparation and realization of daily radio show (Ivan Zeljkovic) and talked with the participants, in the other hall we organized round table to talk about the future of radio in the region. Our guests from the region attended this, and Gordana Predic, with a lot of enthusiasm and desire to help had answered numerous questions from the representatives of radio stations and gave suggestions on how and where to ask for some answers and fight for the legal position of radio. Every free moment has been spent in talks and very friendly atmosphere. Wonderful ambience of the hotels and the restaurant “Mala gostiona” which celebrates 160 years of existence helped the atmosphere a lot. And of course, where there is a lot of work and studying, there is also a lot of fun, so everyone enjoyed wonderful nights with live music. We had a chance to hear representatives of radio stations sing.

Everybody will remember those three days of good time and friendship. Common comment at the end was that we should repeat this as soon as possible. I’m sure this is the right receipt – interesting lectures and the knowledge taken from this, will be applied in all radio stations and they will become better, the experiences we share with the guests from the region are priceless, and the good times spent together become a wonderful memory. Radio is friend to its listeners, and radio stations are the best friends to each other.
