INTRODUCTION - JUNE

Ivana and I just got back from Zagreb. RAB Serbia visiting Narodni radio, Antena Zagreb and Totalni FM. It was wonderful to see how does the big radio industry function and the way radio has won the battle in Croatia. Radio is very respected and important in Croatia. And of course, loved. I have to admit that things are much different here. Radio is very much loved, but we have so much more to learn when it comes to other two things.

In a beautiful five store building in Novi Zagreb there are 14 studios and 170 people take care of news, music and fun. It is no surprise they are the most listened to. You can feel enthusiasm and love for the job at every step - non formal atmosphere and optimism, but everyone know who is doing what and why at every moment. Hundreds of jingles, trailers, ads... are created here daily. Music testing is also done on a daily basis and DJ’s together with producers and ambitious PD’s create program listened by the huge number of people. During our visit an exclusive interview with the Prime Minister was in progress.

Besides all that, we have seen Jura Junior fantastically coordinating all the activities and monitoring program of all radio stations. And everything seems so easy. It is completely obvious that all that requires huge knowledge, but enormous will and ambition of all employees as well. If we add to that great knowledge and experience of Jura Hrvacic Senior, who has an exceptional way with people and is very friendly with everyone, we understand that this is the right way to reach success.

I am still under the influence of this experience – our hosts were very friendly, open for all kinds of cooperation, full of plans how to learn from each other as much as possible. We made plans for a big meeting in Zagreb in the fall with representatives of RAB Serbia, marketing agencies and big clients from Serbia and Croatia, and all that with the goal to improve sails and position of radio stations.

In the next 15 days two great projects for which we have been preparing are waiting for us. Very soon you will be able to find the most detailed database of all radio stations in Serbia, with all the necessary information about every radio station and program which will enable all clients and marketing agencies to easily find radio stations with the required format and target group. The other project is research of radio listening. Final preparation before the start of the research are in progress.

The only thing left for me is to wish you as little rain as possible, a lot of Sun, and of course, a lot of clients.
